The problem

An ordinary bin has to be opened by hand or foot, which is awkward when your hands are full, wet or dirty, and an open bin leaves waste and odour on view.

What it replaces

A manual swing-lid or pedal bin.

Why it made the cut

A motion sensor opens the lid automatically as you approach, so the most repeated job in the room needs no contact with the bin at all. It is offered across a wide range of capacities, so the same design works on a desk, in a bathroom, a bedroom or a kitchen.

What we didn't love

It is sensor-driven, so it needs power and the sensor can be triggered by passing movement. Capacity and dimensions differ between variants, so check the size and power type before ordering.

ABS body with lid. Capacity options run from 11 L to 24 L depending on the variant; the 16 L measures approximately 27 x 17 x 30 cm and the 13 L approximately 26 x 15 x 24 cm. Battery-powered versions are listed as separate variants. Delivery timing depends on destination and is shown at checkout.
